Save the Date for the Next Arlington Concierge College Session on August 11, Highlighting Clarendon and Courthouse Mark your calendar for the next session of the Arlington Concierge College, scheduled for Thursday, August 11, from 1 to 5 p.m.! This free, quarterly educational program for Arlington concierges and guest-services personnel will give you the latest and greatest info on the stores, restaurants, events and attractions of Clarendon and Courthouse. Arlington Tourism Research Update Is Underway As announced in the May StayArlington e-Newsletter, the Arlington Convention and Visitors Service (ACVS) has launched a series of on-site guest intercept interviews at several local hotels. Conducted by the firm DPA (a division of Digital Research, Inc.), these surveys will update previous tourism research conducted in 2006 and 2007. The findings will provide valuable information to continue strengthening Arlington’s position as the best place to stay, shop, dine and play in the region. Founded in 1974, DPA is a leading marketing research firm for the travel and tourism industry. By early August, the firm will provide data analysis and strategic plan recommendations based on 300 visitor intercept interviews and 50 meeting planner interviews. Arlington House, The Robert E. Lee Memorial Commemorates 150th Anniversary of the Battle of First Manassas July 16, 2011, marks the 150th anniversary of the launching of that critical campaign. Join the National Park Service as it commemorates “Prelude to First Manassas” with a special program at the historic home where the battle was planned. The program includes period music by “The Fort McHenry Guard Fife and Drum Corps,” living history, military drills, and musket demonstrations. Guided tours will highlight the Arlington House grounds and the surrounding graves where many of dead from that battle were buried. For more details, visit the StayArlington website. |
