Shipments of the Arlington Official Map & Guide were delivered to all Arlington hotels on March 14 and 15. Please distribute the maps as widely as possible to your hotel guests. As the primary visitor information piece produced by Arlington County, the Official Arlington Map & Guide has extensive information about transportation, dining, shopping, and attractions in Arlington and D.C. It's intended to drive visitors to Arlington businesses, and to ensure that guests have the best possible time in Arlington so that they return again and again. The maps are also available at no charge to Arlington restaurants, retail outlets and other businesses that serve visitors. Please contact Kerry Lambert, Marketing Manager, at firstname.lastname@example.org or (703) 228-0877 with any questions about the delivery, or to request a shipment of maps.
Launching the first of Arlington's Sesquicentennial travel promos, ACVS is currently running advertisements in spring issues of Smithsonian, Preservation, Civil War Times and AAA World to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War (2011-2015). The advertisements, which reach a combined circulation of over 3.5 million people, encourage leisure visitors use Arlington hotels as their home base while exploring the many Civil War attractions in the region. Part of this advertising purchase was covered by a $5,000 marketing grant that ACVS was awarded by the Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC). If your hotel has any special Sesquicentennial packages that can be featured on the soon-to-be-launched, new StayArlington web site, please contact Kerry Lambert, Marketing Manager, at email@example.com or (703) 228-0877.
On May 26 from 10 a.m. to noon, the Internal Revenue Service will host a Virginia Small Business Phone Forum for those in the hospitality and tourism industry. The featured topics are tax law and employment updates from Federal and State perspectives. For more information and to RSVP, please contact Anna Falkenstein at AnnaFalkenstein@irs.gov or (703) 462-5925.
Arlington recently hosted the 2011 Sister Cities International Annual Conference. Over 250 volunteer leaders, elected officials and international relations enthusiasts from around the world attended the conference, held at the Marriott Crystal Gateway in Crystal City. The ACVS staff provided an on-site hospitality desk to offer attendees information about shopping, dining and entertainment options in Arlington.
ACVS is excited to report that the March 24 session of the Arlington Concierge College, the once-a-year full Arlington overview, is sold out! Unlike our usual quarterly sessions that feature one neighborhood, our March bus tour (transportation compliments of Open Top Sightseeing!) will highlight shopping, dining and attractions in all of Arlington's urban villages. The next Arlington Concierge College session will focus on the urban villages of Clarendon and Courthouse. Please contact Monica Cannon, Visitor & Convention Services Manager, at firstname.lastname@example.org or (703) 228-0874 for more information.
Attention Hotel Sales Teams! Add value for your meeting and group clients by taking advantage of our FREE on-site, staffed hospitality desk! On a first-come, first-served basis, ACVS will provide guest assistance at your hotel for meetings and groups of 50 attendees or more. Call Monica Cannon at (703) 228-0874, or e-mail her at email@example.com, to arrange for up to four hours of service during a group’s peak check-in time.
