There's so much to see in Arlington and Washington, D.C.! If you have one day...

The National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial in Arlington honors those lost on September 11, 2001, and is just outside of the Pentagon. If you plan in advance, you can tour the Pentagon when you visit. Afterward, take a few minutes to visit the Air Force Memorial, about a 15-minute walk up the hill from the Pentagon. You’ll identify it by its three nearly-300-foot spires.

Just a short walk from the National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial is Arlington’s largest mall, Fashion Centre at Pentagon City. Anchored by Nordstrom and Macy’s, Fashion Centre offers a world-class shopping experience with more than 170 stores and restaurants. Adjacent to Fashion Centre, Westpost (formerly Pentagon Row)boasts cuisines from around the globe and storefront shopping from nearly 30 local and national retailers. Treat yourself to ice skating and hot cocoa in the winter or a weekly live summer concert series.

If you have two days...

Connect with our nation’s past at Arlington National Cemetery. The 500-acre site – the most hallowed burial ground of America’s fallen military – includes the grave of President John F. Kennedy, Arlington House, and the Tomb of the Unknowns. The Cemetery’s app, ANC Explorer, enables families, visitors, and the public to locate gravesites, events, or other points of interest throughout the cemetery and receive directions to these locations. Visit the nearby Marine Corps War Memorial (Iwo Jima), which pays tribute to every U.S. Marine who has died in battle since 1775. The Memorial is a fantastic vantage point for taking in the nation’s capital.

After visiting memorials, enjoy the cozy neighborhood vibe of Shirlington. Known for its wonderful array of restaurants – most with sidewalk dining – specialty shops and the Tony Award®-winning Signature Theatre, this Arlington neighborhood is big-city fun at a small-town scale.

If you have three days...

Venture to the Ballston neighborhood, where you can enjoy experiences ranging from ice skating to cooking classes at Ballston Quarter Sample cuisine at the international food hall or visit Ballston's regionally and nationally renowned chefs at restaurants, such as Robert Wiedmaier’s Mussel Bar and Grille and Rustico. When you’re finished with your fine dining experience, let your hair down in Clarendon.
