Busboys & Poets
Overview
Busboys and Poets is a community gathering place. First established in 2005 in Washington, D.C., Busboys and Poets was founded by owner Andy Shallal, an artist, activist and restaurateur. Following the success of its flagship location in northwest D.C., Busboys and Poets is now located in seven distinctive neighborhoods in the Washington metropolitan area -- including Arlington's Shirlington neighborhood -- and is a cultural hub for artists, activists, writers, thinkers and dreamers. At this restaurant, bookstore, lounge and theater known for a literary atmosphere, you can enjoy vegan “beef” sliders and sweet potato hash laced with kale, or shrimp cakes with Cajun cream sauce. Poetry slams and book readings are part of the restaurant's neighborhood flavor.
