Overview

Arlington participates in Capital Bikeshare that puts over 2,500 bicycles at your fingertips. Choose a bike from over 300 stations, including 92 in Arlington, and return it to any station near your destination.

Capital Bikeshare is the region’s premier public bike system, making thousands of bicycles available to residents and visitors at hundreds of stations across the District, Arlington, Alexandria, Montgomery County and Fairfax County. The familiar red bikes provide a simple, low-cost way to get from point A to point B for commuting, fitness, errands, exploration and more. The system was created to meet the mission statement: “To transform our community by providing a high quality, convenient and affordable bicycle transit system that will connect people to more places where they live, work and play in the region.”

Capital Bikeshare riders can chose short-term access (30 Min, 24-Hours or 3-Days) or long-term access (30-Days or Annually). Riders take a bike from a station, ride to their destination and return it to another station. Capital Bikeshare is available 24-hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. All trips under 30 minutes are free. Trips beyond 30 minutes incur usage fees which increase incrementally the longer the bike is out.

The Capital Bikeshare app is a convenient tool available through the App Store or Google Play. Download the app to purchase trips, locate available bikes and stations, plan trips, and more.
