These markets are so much more than just places to buy produce. They feature live music, food trucks, artisan pastries, ethnic foods, gourmet cheeses, juices and more. Pack a picnic with fresh-baked bread and local cheese or grab a prepared dish or something off the grill to eat as you listen to music and mingle with locals. You can also pick up an edible souvenir to take home with you.

Ballston

The 17 vendors of the FRESHFARM Ballston Market sell fruits and vegetables, ice cream, baked goods, Virginia-made wines, cold-pressed juices, wood-fired pizza, hot-pressed sandwiches and more. Find music, a beer and wine garden, and fun giveaways on the first Thursday of the month.

How to Visit: The market is open on Thursday afternoons from April to November. It’s located in shady Welburn Square across the street from the Ballston Metro station.

Community-based Lubber Run Farmers Market sells seasonal produce, baked goods, coffee, honey, nuts, olives, cheese and prepared foods from 25 local vendors. Try an Ecuadoran-inspired vegetarian dish or a Turkish chicken borek.

How to Visit: The market is open on Saturday mornings from April through November. It’s located at the Barrett Elementary School.

Columbia Pike

Nineteen vendors bring their best fresh products straight from the field to the Columbia Pike Farmers Market. Shop for local produce, organic meats, pastries, jams, honey, coffee, Eurasian prepared dishes and more.

How to Visit: The market is open on Sunday mornings, year-round. It’s located at Pike Park, with street parking.

Courthouse

One of the largest markets in the region, the FRESHFARM Arlington Market has been a weekly celebration of local food since 1979. Stop by this popular market and pick up anything from farmstead goat cheese to pastured bison from 40 local vendors. Make a meal of it with spicy kimchi, handmade empanadas and Lebanese specialties.

How to Visit: The market is open on Saturday mornings year-round. It’s located in the Courthouse parking lot near the Courthouse Metro station.

Fairlington

Head to the Fairlington Farmers Market for fresh produce, grass-fed meats, eggs, coffee, baked goods and other prepared foods from 20 vendors. Make a morning of it with your family at the playground or for a leisurely coffee and authentic Austrian strudel. As a local, producer-only market, everyone who sells at the market grows, raises, bakes, cooks or prepares the food themselves.

How to Visit: The market is open on Sunday mornings, May through November. It’s located in the Fairlington Community Center near the Courthouse Metro station.

Langston Boulevard

Shop for fruits and veggies, baked goods, dairy products, nuts, pasture-raised meats and nutritious specialty foods from 17 vendors at the Cherrydale Farmers Market, managed by Field to Table, Inc. Take home a special memory in the form of a madeleine from Chef Patrice Olivon, a former White House chef, Iron Chef winner and chef at the French Embassy.

How to Visit: The market is open on Saturday mornings from June to November. It’s located at the Dorothy Hamm Middle School with street parking nearby.

National Landing

Indulge in the beauty and lively ambiance of EatLoco's MetPark Market at Metropolitan Park in National Landing. How to Visit: A smaller market is open Tuesdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. from April 23 through October 29 while the larger market is open Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. from March 30 through November 2.

Rosslyn

Stroll through the FRESHFARM Rosslyn Market and delight your senses with a wide selection of conventional and certified organic produce, pasture-raised meat, baked goods and breads, fresh flowers, pickles, prepared foods and more from whopping 200-plus vendors.

How to Visit: The market is open Wednesday afternoons, May through October. It’s located in Central Place Plaza near the Rosslyn Metro station.

Westover

The 32 local vendors at the Westover Farmers Market sell fresh produce, herbs, cut flowers, grass-fed meats, dairy products, baked goods and a variety of prepared foods. Grab a tasty empanada, a European quiche or an apple cider donut before you go on your way.

How to Visit: The market is open Sunday mornings year-round, rain or shine. It’s located in the heart of the Westover neighborhood with street parking available.
