We have dozens of coffee houses serving everything from French roasts to artisan teas, and offering delicious, fresh-made bites to perk you up in the morning or keep you energized all day long. Or just take a leisurely afternoon coffee break after a busy day of sightseeing and shopping.

You will also find about 20 Starbucks locations spread across Arlington from Crystal City to Pentagon City, as well as two Peet’s Coffee outlets.

Each neighborhood has its own beloved local cafes and we've gathered some popular favorites here.

Ballston

There's hardly a better pair than doughnuts and coffee; score both at Good Company Doughnuts & Café in Ballston. It specializes in fresh-made gourmet doughnuts (in endless delicious flavors), rustic pastries, Intelligensia coffee and light fare.

The San Francisco-based coffee chain Philz Coffee serves its signature 19 customized blends as well as Mediterranean-inspired bites in its Ballston outlet.

Clarendon

The bustling Clarendon neighborhood takes its coffee very seriously. It has more coffee shops and sidewalk cafes than any other in Arlington. Stop for a cup of joe and sweets at the following specialty places.

Small but mighty Bakeshop packs a tantalizing array of baked goods that pair perfectly with their brews from local roastery Vigilante Coffee Company. Grab a cupcake, macaron or cookie with your drip coffee, cold brew or chai latte.

Have a hand-crafted cuppa and a made-from-scratch pastry at the chic espresso bar, eatery and community hub Detour Coffee Co.

Get your macchiato, cortado or americano along with a pastry or Turkish breakfast at East West Coffee Wine.

A trendy inner-city-style coffee shop, Kaldi’s Social House serves great coffee, good food and in-house baked goods amid industrial-chic surroundings.

Northside Social is an Arlington institution. The two-story neighborhood hangout has an outdoor patio perfect for enjoying your latte art alongside a delicious breakfast scone or muffin (pumpkin chocolate chunk, anyone?). Come for the coffee, stay for the happy hour wine.

French tradition meets Middle East ingredients at Tatte Bakery & Café, a great brunch place for everything from Middle Eastern mezze breakfast to French toast, along with a great cup of mocha, of course.

Grab your laptop and head to European-style coffeehouse and co-work space Three Whistles for a productive morning.

Making its mark on the Clarendon coffee scene, the Waterhouse Coffee & Juice Bar serves all your caffeinated faves, plus juices, smoothies and a health-conscious menu.

Columbia Pike

Coffee takes on decidedly international notes in the Columbia Pike neighborhood.

Get your pupusa, empanada and milanesa fix as well as steaming cappuccinos and tres leches cake at the Latin American Café Sazón.

Ethiopian-inspired Idido Coffee serves artisan coffee — from doppio and cortado to macchiato and cappuccino — plus breakfast food, smoothies and light fare.

Courthouse

In the Courthouse neighborhood, cultivate a taste for the South at Bayou Bakery, Coffee Bar & Eatery, where Food Network star David Guas dishes up sinfully delicious beignets and other delectable treats along with your java.

Crystal City

In addition to four Starbucks locations in Crystal City, you’ll find two neighborhood stalwarts.

If you're staying at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View, pop into the Espressamente illy for fresh-brewed Italian coffee, delicious pastries and light bites.

Head to the Crystal City Water Park for a to-go cup at The Stand, an outdoor stall selling premium La Colombe coffee and B Doughnuts.

Pentagon City

For nitro brews, pour-overs and espresso in the Pentagon City neighborhood, try Commonwealth Joe Coffee Roasters. Its single-origin specialty coffee is fresh-roasted in small batches and served in the spacious indoor-outdoor cafe.

Rosslyn

Like Rosslyn’s high-rise office workers, you can frequent two trendy spots when you’re on the go.

Opt for some African flavors at the Rosslyn location of Bourbon Coffee, a Rwanda-based coffee company serving house-made pastries, smoothies, paninis, and coffee and espresso beverages made with direct-trade Rwandan beans.

As you exit the Rosslyn Metro, fuel up at DC-based Compass Coffee's small Rosslyn location. With a passionate following, it serves ethically sourced global coffee made from beans roasted in their DC roastery.

Shirlington

Best Buns Bread Company brews Starbucks coffee into hot and cold barista drinks, which you can enjoy with delicious artisan- and hearth-baked breads and sweet treats. Don’t miss the signature BBBC cupcakes.

Westover

Shoppers can pop in for a latte, a small bite and an eclectic gift at the Trade Roots gift store and coffee shop. Linger for live music on many Friday evenings.
