The county received a 100% rating in 2021 for LGBTQ rights by the Human Rights Campaign Municipality Equality Index, was named the #1 Best Town in Virginia for LGBT Families by Movoto in 2016, and recommended as an LGBTQ travel destination by Passport Magazine.
Situated directly across the Potomac River from the Washington, D.C., Arlington provides convenient access to all the amenities and opportunities of Washington, D.C., while retaining the warmth and charm of a close-knit neighborhood community. Arlington is 26 square miles and has an array of lively, walkable neighborhoods conveniently located on the region's Metro system.
Whether you'd like to explore our nation's historic and cultural treasures, to experience annual favorites like the National Cherry Blossom Festival, Capital Pride, Arlington Pride, or A Capitol Fourth Independence Day celebration; or to attend one of the region's LGBTQ events and festivals, Arlington is your ideal home base. Our one-of-a-kind capital views also provide the perfect backdrop for unforgettable wedding celebrations! For evening fun, check out Freddie's Beach Bar and Restaurant, Northern Virginia's only LGBTQ, "straight friendly" restaurant and bar. Featuring drag shows and karaoke, Freddie's is among the region's established hangouts where LGBTQ couples can just be themselves. It even has a delicious weekend brunch menu, too!
Virginia is for lovers and Arlington is proud to be a part of Virginia Tourism Corporation’s statewide LGBTQ initiative to provide all visitors with a welcoming experience.
