Every four years, the eyes of the world turn to our nation's capital as the next U.S. presidential administration is sworn in. The 60th Inaugural Ceremonies will take place on January 20, 2025, on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.
Whether you're staying in Arlington or Washington, D.C., here's what you need to know about the Inaugural events happening throughout the weekend.
The Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies plans and executes the Inaugural Ceremonies of the President-elect and Vice President-elect of the United States including the Procession to the Capitol, Vice President's Swearing-In Ceremony,* President's Swearing-In Ceremony,* Inaugural Address, Honorary Departure, Signing Ceremony, Inaugural Luncheon, and Pass in Review.
There are also a number of official and unofficial Inaugural Balls and parties happening in D.C., Arlington and neighboring jursidictions that the public can attend if they apply for and are granted tickets. See additional information about these events and more here.
*You must have a ticket to attend the swearing-in-ceremonies. Tickets are free, but they’re in high demand and must be applied for through your local representative or senator's office. Screens will display festivities on the National Mall for other onlookers.
Beginning Sunday, Jan. 19, until Tuesday, Jan. 21, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) buses will detour daily due to the 2025 Presidential Inauguration and Inaugural Events.
